Have you ever felt that no matter what you do, you're never going to be able to change the world? Not even your country, not even your town? When even in the neighbourhood that you claim, and on the very street that you live on, you feel put upon, powerless? Have you every dreamed of making a billion dollar fortune, buying an island in the middle of the ocean, and declaring independence? Well, have I got some good news for you! You don't even have to make a million dollars to get off the grid. All you've got to do is scrounge together about a thousand bucks, and find another five friends who are willing to do the same, and you can forget about paying rent for the rest of your life. Raise the black flag high, gaze with pride upon the face of the jolly roger -- be a real-live pirate! You don't need to buy a whole island, you can build a houseboat for next to nothing! All you need are some two-by-fours and a few sheets of plywood, and a bunch of recycled olive oil barrels to strap under the barge that you build with the wood. Live lightly on the water, and leave your troubles behind, relax, and just ease your mind. It's really easy -- I've come up with a great design for the communal life aquatic! It's another Revoltron, a Voltron-inspired vehicle that can separate into several units, and unite into one big massive palace for six. Each individual unit is shaped like an arrowhead, so unlike almost every other houseboat in existence, it's aerodynamic on the water. Yet it's also narrow enough to fit on a chassis, so it can be built in your backyard, and then transported by trailer down to the beach.

Each of the six units is identical in its basic design, so all six can be built by a team of people in rapid succession. Each one has a deck in front to steer, a deck out back to bask in the sun's rays, and a room in the middle to live in. After the basic frame has been constructed, the boat is customized to become either a bedroom, a kitchen, a sitting room, or a bathroom.

When the boats are traveling from place to place, they do so independently of one another, so each of the six people in the houseboat collective steers one of the ships. When they come together to form the Revoltron, they all point their bows to the center, and create a large hexagram. One long deck now runs around the perimeter of the ship, and the decks in the center become a common room!

Each Revoltron consists of 1 kitchen, 1 sitting room, 1 bathroom, and 3 bedrooms. Once the uber-structure has been secured for the night, the six sailors can pair off in the individual bedrooms and have some measure of privacy. But if they want it to be open-concept, they can just throw open the doors and side windows, which are all lined up to allow for communication and cross-ventilation. Avast ye, land lubbers, let the party on the water begin! Sail up the St. Lawrence, or down the coast to the Panama Canal... the world is your oyster! I dub thee REVOLTRON!
